Since 1878, the Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS) has been the premier advocate for physicians and patients, dedicated to the betterment of healthcare here in Louisiana. Several years ago, The Medical Student Section (MSS) of the LSMS was created to expose students to organized medicine, provide various leadership opportunities, and allow students to take a more pro-active role in policy making within the LSMS.

The LSMS MSS offers general membership to all students around the state. As a member of Medical Student Section, you will receive all the benefits of LSMS membership and updates on various legislation and issues affecting both physicians and patients and the stances being taken by the LSMS. The MSS Section of the website will also inform you of any upcoming events for students and how you can get more involved. Members will be eligible to hold positions on the governing council of the MSS and serve as a medical student delegate to LSMS House of Delegates, the policy making body of the LSMS.
