05.07.12 The Southwest Louisiana Primary Health Care Center of Opelousas will receive more than $1 million from the federal government to increase its building capacity and serve more patients, U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., announced this week.

The center cared for about 13,000 patients last year, chief executive officer Dodie LaMott said. The center offers affordable dental and medical care.

"The idea is that the funding that we will receive will help us be able to expand the services and care, but particularly expand services in the dental area," she said.
