04.16.12 Louisiana is taking a wait-and-see approach to the most sweeping changes in the federal Affordable Care Act as the nation awaits a Supreme Court decision on the law.

The state is among 12 that joined Florida to challenge the requirement that Americans must buy health insurance or face penalties.

The Supreme Court heard arguments in the case in March and will issue its ruling in June. It could overturn parts of the law and uphold other parts or overturn the entire law.

The more than 630,000 adults in Louisiana without insurance have the most to gain or lose from the court decision.
