03.16.12 Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center will take over pediatric services scheduled to be eliminated at LSU's Mid-City clinic because of Jindal administration budget cuts.
"We are glad we were able to play a role in it. It fits in with our mission and ministry. Kids need to have good access and good quality care," said Scott Wester, chief executive officer.
Wester said Thursday the Lake would hire two pediatricians who currently serve some of the more than 4,500 area children who use the Mid-City Clinic. The pediatricians would become members of the Lake's Physician Group in April.
The Lake has worked out a deal with LSU to continue to use the space in the clinic, located at 1410 N. Foster Dr., for a period of time, Wester said.
