01.23.12 Officials at University Medical Center have come up with an alternate plan to continue serving its pediatric patients, hospital administrator Larry Dorsey said late Friday.

The pediatric program was on the chopping block as UMC deals with its share of approximately $29 million in state budget cuts from the LSU Health System.

Dorsey said UMC will likely still have to close its pediatric clinic, but those patients will be transferred to the family medicine clinic, which will have the same staff.

"They should be seeing some of the same physicians they are seeing now," Dorsey said.
