01.10.12 LSU Health Shreveport has lost what amounts to a $25.6 million savings account because of state budget woes.
 
State health officials will use federal healthcare funding generated by LSU Health Shreveport hospital operations to replace state general funds in the state Health and Hospitals Department budget. In the past, the health system, which oversees hospitals in Shreveport, Monroe and Pineville, used the money to fill budget gaps when funding was available.
