01.03.12 Louisiana's Department of Health and Hospitals recently announced it would receive a $1.9 million performance bonus for its efforts in ensuring eligible children were enrolled in Medicaid and the Louisiana Children's Health Insurance Program.
This year, about 8,700 additional children across the state were enrolled, bringing the total to 732,105, according to monthly average enrollment numbers.
The money is being awarded by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and is expected to help the department sustain benefits for these children, said Lisa Faust, DHH spokeswoman.
