LSMSA Medical Family Support -
Margaret D. Morrow, Committee Chair

Medical families need to be knowledgeable and prepared for managing their lives, homes and/or businesses on a daily basis. This premise has been the special focus of Medical Family Support for LSMSA over the past six and a half years. We encourage parish Alliances to consider presenting Medical Family Support worksheets either on paper or digitally in membership packets and follow up that information with a program, guest speaker or general discussion.

The idea is to keep the information regarding personal, legal, financial and insurance matters current and together in a secure place creating a "quick reference." Today is the best time to gather your family information and prepare for the future.

The LSMS Alliance is a parish, state, and national volunteer organization working in alliance with the Louisiana State Medical Society.

  • We are physicians’ spouses and physicians working together for better health care for the citizens of our communities.
  • We address community health issues such as violence prevention and solutions, child safety, underage drinking and smoking, and health needs of the low-income families.
  • We support health education through community health fairs; by the distribution of information on health concerns, such as women’s and children’s health, breast cancer awareness, osteoporosis, obesity; and by providing scholarships to health career students.
  • We offer members current information on legislation that is of interest to patients and the medical community.
  • We are affiliated with the American Medical Association Alliance and receive the benefits of their publications, programs, and leadership training for our members.
