Since 1878, the Louisiana State Medical Society (LSMS) has been the premier advocate for physicians and patients, dedicated to the betterment of healthcare here in Louisiana. Several years ago, The Medical Student Section (MSS) of the LSMS was created to expose students to organized medicine, provide various leadership opportunities, and allow students to take a more pro-active role in policy making within the LSMS.

The LSMS MSS offers general membership to all students around the state. As a member of Medical Student Section, you will receive all the benefits of LSMS membership as well as quarterly newsletters geared to the medical students in the state of Louisiana. These quarterly bulletins will keep you updated on various legislation and issues affecting both physicians and patients and the stances being taken by the LSMS. The newsletter will also inform you of any upcoming event s for students and how you can get more involved. Members will be eligible to hold positions on the governing council of the MSS and serve as a medical student delegate to LSMS House of Delegates, the policy making body of the LSMS.

For those interested in general membership, we urge you all to register as members by going to www.LSMS.org and submitting an application as a medical student. Membership is free.
