Resident Section
LSMS Leadership


The purpose of the LSMS Resident Section is to provide intern, resident, and fellow physicians greater participation in the affairs of the Louisiana State Medical Society and a more direct role in policy deliberations. To this end are three goals of the Resident Section:

  1. to educate residents about issues concerning graduate medical education and national health policies;

  2. to develop a truly representative organization in order to effect change; and

  3. to train young physician leaders.

Membership Information

Annual Dues:

  • RS $10

  • Parish Society $10

  • LSMS $25

  • TOTAL: $45/year

AMA National Dues (recommended): an additional $45/year

Benefits of LSMS and RS membership include the RS newsletter, attendance at all RS events and lectures, LSMS Journal, LSMS Capsules, eligibility for RS and LSMS state and national offices

Benefits of AMA membership include subscriptions to JAMA and American Medical News, a 50% reduction in subscriptions to AMA specialty journals, reduced rates for AMA insurance and other products and services.
