Board of Governors

2007-2008 Members

The Louisiana State Medical Society Board of Governors consists of all general officers of the Society and a resident and medical student representative; the LSMS President serves as its chair. The Immediate Past President, Vice President, President Elect, Secretary/Treasurer, the Speaker and Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates, the Chair of the Council on Legislation, a medical student and a resident physician are members. In addition, each of the ten medical districts is represented by a councilor, who also serves on the Board of Councilors.

The members of the Board of Governors are the trustees of the Society. It assumes all duties of the House of Delegates between annual meetings, and its actions are subject to the approval of the House.

The Board of Governors meets quarterly as well as holding special called meetings and telephone conferences.

The Executive Committee of the Board of Governors is composed of the President, the President-Elect, the Vice President, the Immediate Past President, the Secretary-Treasurer, the Speaker of the House of Delegates, the Vice Speaker of the House of Delegates, and the Chair of the Board of Councilors. The Executive Committee may perform all acts and transact business for and on behalf of the Board of Governors between meetings of the Board, subject to the approval of the Board.
