The LSMS CME Accreditation Program

The LSMS Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Program is recognized by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to accredit organizations in Louisiana that wish to designate American Medical Association Physician Recognition Awards Category 1 credit for educational activities for physicians. The Program also functions as an educational resource for organizations wishing to improve the quality and scope of their educational offerings. With CME become a mandatory requirement for relicensure by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners in 2002, this program will be meeting the increased demand for accredited hospitals by physicians.

Educational and Research Foundation (ERF)

The LSMS established the Educational and Research Foundation for the purpose of funding educational programs like CME, scholarships, and other activities to enhance the educational opportunities for physicians and medical students in Louisiana.

The Department of Administration and Member Services is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day business functions of the Society, the recruitment and retention of the LSMS membership, the coordination of physician membership benefits, the Continuing Medical Education Accreditation Program and the LSMS Educational and Research Foundation’s CME Program and the Philip H. Jones MD Scholarship Program.
